Book description
I don’t want to hurt him—I just want to punish him.
It’s bad enough being the only female owner of the Salacious Players’ Club, but I’m also the only one without a kink, or so I thought.
Imagine my surprise when the kink quiz suggests that I’m not so vanilla after all.
In fact, I’m a lot more like Emerson Grant than I thought.
Just one problem—I have no idea how to be a Domme.
That is, until the app matches me with someone willing to help me learn.
He’s too young for me.
Too stubborn. Too good looking.
And, oh yeah, my friend’s son.
Beau Grant is a brat. I’d hate that about him if I didn’t love punishing him so much.
Underneath all of that attitude is a man who is misunderstood, selfless, and in need of direction.
But if he wants mercy, he has to earn it.
There are a million reasons why I should stay away, but I’m tired of doing what everyone thinks I should do.
I finally know what I want, and I’m ready to take what’s mine.
Mercy book club discussion guide
**PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS DISCUSSION QUESTION GUIDE MIGHT INCLUDE SPOILERS**
We’ve provided the Dirty Dozen below; twelve spicy and intriguing questions to spark discussion and help you uncover the spine-tingling depths of the story.
The Dirty Dozen
Foreplay – Warm Up Questions
1. What’s the overall spice level? 1 (Not Spicy) – 10 (Spiciest Thing I’ve Ever Read)?
2. How does the spice level compare to the other books we’ve read together?
3. How do you like the prologue pulling back to the same night/timeline for each book and then branching off? Did you enjoy Maggie’s response? “If a man ever grabbed my hair and spoke to me like that, I’d slug him in the face too.” What would your reaction honestly be in that moment — slug first, question later? Or would part of you lean into it? How do you tell the difference between dominance and disrespect?
The Spicy Bits – Gettin’ Down and Dirty with the Plot
4. “I’m tired of being unfulfilled.” Have you ever felt like your sex life — or your whole identity — has been shoved into the passenger seat while everyone else gets to be the star? When was the last time you truly felt like the center of someone’s fantasy?
5. Do you relate to the experience of suppressing your desires to keep the peace, get the job, avoid the drama? What would that version of you — the one you’ve hidden — do if you had five minutes of full control?
6. “No one wants to date the off-brand Emerson Grant.” That inner critic can be brutal. What’s your “off-brand” fear — the thing you worry makes you unworthy of love or attention? How would your Domme talk back to it?
7. “Because any punishment is better than being some rich prick’s perfect little doll.” Would you rather be punished or ignored? Controlled or forgotten? What kind of discipline — physical or emotional — makes you feel seen?
8. If you grew up in a shame-based household or culture, what part of your sexuality did you have to unlearn or reclaim? What still makes you flinch even when you know better?
9. Is there a line that could make love stop for you — or someone else? Can you offer mercy without losing your boundaries?
10. Have you ever been someone’s secret? Or made someone else yours? Was it about shame… or fear of what other people would see if they looked too closely?
11. “He’s mine.” Should Maggie have been the one to go in when Beau was in the hospital instead of Emerson? When do you choose action over deference?
Aftercare – Final Thoughts
12. What does real aftercare look like to you — emotionally, physically, or sexually? Have you ever had to give it to yourself when no one else showed up?
Bonus: What questions do you have for the author? If you could dog-ear a page with a question for the author, what would it be?
